Benefits to You?

Absolutely, you can be assured that the accredited organization you have selected to work with has successfully passed rigorous "standards of excellence" in all areas of operations to include:

  • visioning
  • marketing
  • planning
  • research
  • collateral

The Hampton bureau was one of three nationally, and the first within Virginia, to earn the prestigious designation in 2005.

DMAP is the first comprehensive accreditation program developed to promote, measure and recognize excellence in the operation and management of convention and visitor bureaus.

Partially bordered by the Hampton Roads harbor and Chesapeake Bay, Hampton is located in the center of the Hampton Roads.

It is the site of America’s first continuous English speaking settlement and is home to such visitor attractions as the Virginia Air & Space Center and IMAX® Theater, harbor tours and cruises, Hampton University campus and museum, Fort Monroe, award-winning Hampton Coliseum, the American Theatre, among others. Hampton was twice-named All-America City, the nation’s oldest and most prominent community recognition award.

“Accreditation
benefits not only
the participating convention and
visitors bureau,
it also reflects on
the community it represents and the
state within which
it resides,”
said Don Anderson, ICVBA director.
