First Light Celebration-- 400th anniversary of the first recorded Christmas in North America. The first written report of an English Christmas in North America took place in December 1608 at the Kecoughtan Village which today is Hampton. The city will observe the 400th anniversary of this historic event with a ceremonial lighting of a giant star, with Olde English Chritmas music and fare.
