Intersected by Interstates 64 and 664, Hampton is located in the geographic center of the Hampton Roads area approximately a 3-hour drive south of Washington, D.C. and 30 miles from both Colonial Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. To reach the Hampton Visitor from I-64, take Exit 267 to downtown Hampton, following Settlers Landing Road. Turn right on Merchants Lane, Visitor Center is located where Merchants Lane meets Old Hampton Lane.

Heading East on I-64 (from Richmond):
- Take Exit 267 (Woodland Road) and turn left at the end of the ramp. Continue approximately 3/4 mile, crossing over the Booker T. Washington Memorial Bridge to Settlers Landing Road. Turn right on Merchant Lane to the Hampton Visitor Center
Heading West on I-64(From Norfolk):
- Take Exit 267 (Settlers Landing Road) and turn right at the end of the ramp onto Settlers Landing Road. Continue approximately 1/2 mile, crossing over the Booker T. Washington Memorial Bridge to Settlers Landing Road. Turn right on Merchant Lane to the Hampton Visitor Center.
Heading East on I-664 (from Suffolk/Portsmouth):
- Merge right onto I-64 East. Take Exit 267 (Settlers Landing Road) and turn right at the end of the ramp onto Settlers Landing Road. Continue approximately 1/2 mile, crossing over the Booker T. Washington Memorial Bridge to Settlers Landing Road. Turn right on Merchant Lane to the Hampton Visitor Center.
Motorcoach parking is a convenient block away from the Hampton Visitor Center.
