Hampton Boating

Hampton is defined by its harborfront beauty - it's what makes us the charming destination we are. Pleasure boaters find safe haven in marinas dotting the sheltered harbor and Hampton is a favorite among boaters traveling the Intracoastal Waterway.

You’ll find Hampton where the Chesapeake Bay meets the Hampton Roads harbor.  Set a course for Downtown Hampton and the scenic Hampton River at daymarkers 13 and 14. Deepwater slips, first-class facilities, special amenities, and all boater needs are within walking distance of most Hampton marinas.

One of the best places to anchor is up the Hampton River, east of the channel, adjacent to the Crowne Plaza Hotel at the Hampton Public Piers. The channel depth is 12 feet at low tide and there is plenty of room outside the 150-foot-wide channel.  But Hampton also offers several marinas with varied amenities to meet every boater's expectations, and needs.

Hampton’s harborfront is a popular site for many boating events year round.  Sailors and power boaters return to Hampton annually for the Hampton Creek Cobia Tournament, Blackbeard Pirate Festival, Hampton Cup Regatta and Hampton Bay Days. From May through September, Hampton's Saturday morning Market Place and Saturday evening Street Fest welcome boaters to our intimate community with lively entertainment, family-oriented activities and a taste of Hampton.
